Zone Alarm Alert Messages

You will sometimes get a Zone Alarm message box pop up down near your clock (system tray). These messages alert you to the fact that programs or processes are trying to do things on your pc (i.e access the internet). Some messages are ok to Allow and some are not.

It is important to read the message to try to determine what program is trying to do something. If you are not sure what to answer - press Deny. If what you are trying to do stops working then shut the program down and start it again and answer 'Allow' when the message pops up again.

Some alerts will be about your Printer or Scanner software or other software trying to check for updates - it is up to you whether you allow such updates - generally it is best to leave updates if your software is already working fine.

If you are still not sure what to answer - write down what the alert says and contact us to find out what is the best action. Installing a New Program
If you are installing a new program then you must Allow all Zone Alarm alerts that come up or the program you are trying to install may not work.Generic Host Processes for Win32 Services
If you receive a message upon starting up your pc about 'Generic Host Processes for Win32 Services is trying to act as a server' (see below picture) you must Allow this otherwise you may not be able to access the internet. This message may come up again and again - just allow it.
